What to look for when deciding on a place to stay
in Brainerd Lakes Country
If
you are reading this article we assume that you are
going to visit the Brainerd Lakes Country for your vacation.
If this is the case there are a few criteria to consider
in the planning and selection of your resort. The first
consideration always is what your family desires and
what your expectations are. Make a list of the criteria
that are important to you and then begin surveying the
various resorts to ascertain which one best suits your
needs. Following are some considerations which might
prove useful in your planning process.
One of the first is the number of people in your party
and your budget constraints. Most resorts and hotels/motels
in the area have a variety of room, cabin or condo sizes
and can accommodate your needs, so tailor your plans

the internet. Also, there are a number of wonderful
bed and breakfasts that should also be considered.
What activities you deem important also can be essential
in your selection process and may influence your decision.
Will you be fishing, biking or snowmobiling? If so it
might be prudent to find a spot with a secure area for
your boat, bikes or snowmobiles, so check out security
in your resort search. If you won’t be bringing
a boat, see which resorts can supply one to you as a
part of your package.
Maybe you simply want to lounge around the lake and
wind down with a bonfire, listening to the loon’s
calls or star gaze under crystal clear skies that are
free from city lights. Many of our family type resorts
offer a peaceful and quiet setting that have very reasonable
rates. If you are bringing the kids check to see what
activities the various resorts offer. Also, several
area hotels have pools and water slides for the kids.
The entire area is loaded during the summer with special
events and festivals as well.
Is this a golfing vacation? We have a number of resorts
with their own wonderful courses where you can walk
out your front door right to the first tee. Remember,
though, that all of our area resorts are within a stone’s
throw of some of Minnesota’s finest golfing opportunities.
Do you have special needs to be considered? If you
need a resort with day care services for the kids you
need to plan for that. Do you have pets that you will
be bringing along? Some area resorts allow them and
others do not. Do you need a resort that is handicap
accessible? These are all items to be checked out prior
to reserving your vacation lodging.
Are you planning on biking, in-line skating or snowmobiling?
We have a number of resorts in the Brainerd Lakes area
that are directly adjacent to the Paul Bunyan Trail
for added convenience. Hop on your bike and be on your
way along one of Minnesota’s premier trails.
Are you planning a company business trip and vacation
combination? Many of our larger resorts and hotels offer

centers and family friendly meals. Brainerd Lakes Country

If you are planning a winter vacation check to see
which resorts can accommodate you. Some area resorts
are strictly seasonal and close down in the late fall
while others are open throughout the winter.
Timing can be critically important. Many resorts have
a requirement for a minimum number of nights during
the summer prime time, but have more flexibility and
offer better deals during the off-season. The Brainerd
Lakes area is gorgeous not only in the summer, but also
in spring and fall so look in to these specials. Most
importantly don’t wait until the last moment to
book your reservations, as you might be looking for
a place to stay in while others are enjoying this diverse
area.
